Robotic bag stacking system

Limestone Coast Seeds is a processing and storage facility, situated in the heart of the largest lucerne growing area in Australia.

Limestone Coast Seeds operates two state-of-the-art facilities with  the capacity to clean and store all varieties of seed.

To keep up with future growth, Limestone Coast Seeds purchased a robotic bag‑stacking system to handle their higher production volumes.

Adding the robot also removes a lot of the OHS risks that come with manual stacking.

The gripper on the system is built to handle a range of product sizes, so it can easily adapt to whatever comes down the line.

Conveyors were utilised to settle and supply bags to the robot, as well as transfer the steel stillages through the robot cell that are used for loading the product into shipping containers for export.

If you’re looking for a smart, cost‑effective way to palletise feed or grain products, Automation Solutions can help.

Greg Excell, Director at Limestone Coast Seeds had this to say..

“We were facing a physical challenge with the lifting required to stack bags of Broad beans, we were looking at how we could increase our processing turnaround times to meet export requirements. It was exhausting work for our team, and we knew we needed a robot to get the job done. We had talked to many companies on stacking our bags on our specially made steel pallets that we use for loading into containers. We couldn’t find anyone that could successfully satisfy our special requirements   .

When we connected with Brett at Automation Solutions under recommendation from a colleague, the difference was immediate. Brett understood our concerns straight away and quickly designed a layout that worked perfectly for our operation. The installation was smooth, and the robot has already eliminated so much of the hard, physical work.

On top of that, the cost was nearly half of what we’d been quoted elsewhere. As Automation Solutions runs a lean operation, we got a fair price without compromising on quality. We’re grateful not just for the technology, but for the honesty and care shown throughout the process. It’s been a game‑changer for our business.”
